Project Discovery is a community based program started in 1979 in Roanoke, Virginia, with a goal of helping low-income middle and high school students in Pittsylvania County become the first in their families to go to college. A school drop-out prevention program that provides low-income students in Pittsylvania County with educational and cultural activities including exposure to post secondary education.
Project Discovery is school drop-out prevention, college access preparatory program serving economically disadvantaged and first generation college students. The program is designed to promote education as a means to ending the cycle of poverty for current and future generations of students. Students attend various informative workshops designed to stimulate interest in attending and graduating colleges and or preparatory schools.
