section 8
Section 8 Housing
Choice Voucher Program
Section 8 is a rental assistance program that is
intended to provide low and moderate income families and individuals
with descent, safe, sanitary housing at a monthly rent that they can
afford.
Those who qualify for the
Section 8 Program
will not pay more than 30%
of their income in rent. This also depends on the subsidy.
This is accomplished by Federal Government Programs that help
subsidize the cost of building these projects so that owners can
charge a lower monthly rent. A more direct subsidy is
paid monthly to cover the difference of what the eligible tenant can
afford and the contract rent that is charged.
